For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Lexus RZ are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The VinFast VF 8 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the RZ are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Lexus RZ comes with a standard Panoramic View Monitor with a rear camera washer to provide all-weather visibility, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the VinFast VF 8 doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the RZ and VF 8 have rear cross-traffic warning, but the RZ Premium/Luxury has Parking Support Brake (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The VF 8’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the RZ and the VF 8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Lexus RZ is safer than the VinFast VF 8:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH, results indicate that the Lexus RZ is safer than the VinFast VF 8:

Warranty

The RZ’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the VF 8’s (unlimited vs. 125000 miles).

There are almost 7 times as many Lexus dealers as there are VinFast dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the RZ’s warranty.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the RZ has larger tires than the VF 8 (F:235/60R18 & R:255/55R18 vs. 225/55R19).

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the RZ’s turning circle is 3.8 feet tighter than the VF 8’s (36.8 feet vs. 40.6 feet).

For greater off-road capability the RZ has a 1.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the VF 8 (7.9 vs. 6.8 inches), allowing the RZ to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Lexus RZ may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 950 to 1150 pounds less than the VinFast VF 8.

For excellent aerodynamics, the RZ has standard flush composite headlights. The VF 8 has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The front grille of the RZ uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The VF 8 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The RZ uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The VF 8 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Cargo Capacity

The RZ has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the VF 8 with its rear seat up (34.1 vs. 13.2 cubic feet). The RZ has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the VF 8 with its rear seat folded (55.6 vs. 48.4 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

The RZ’s standard Smart Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Passive Entry standard on the VF 8 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The RZ offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The VF 8 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The RZ’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The VF 8’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

Compared to the VinFast VF 8, the Lexus RZ eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its standard integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the rear view mirror.

The RZ is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the VF 8, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the RZ offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the VF 8.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the RZ equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The VF 8, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Lexus RZ empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.

The RZ has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The RZ’s optional Advanced Park can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Advanced Park will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The VF 8 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Model Availability

The RZ is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The VF 8 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Recommendations

The Lexus RZ outsold the VinFast VF 8 by over two to one during 2024.
